Firebreak Brand Fire Retardant Brand Phos-Chek Fire Retardant is not a foam or gel...It's Better.

Foams and gels are fire retardants that rely solely on their contained water as the active ingredient to suppress fire. Once the water evaporates from these products, either by the heat of the sun, or heat from a wildfire, they can no longer stop a fire's progress.

Phos-Chek long-term fire retardant, on the other hand, does not rely on contained water to stop fires. Once applied it can remain effective for weeks or even months until it is washed off by a stream of water or a moderate rainstorm.

The plan is to set up a defensible perimeter around your home. Phos-Chek is not effective on painted wooden surfaces.

Firebreak Brand Fire Retardant brand Phos-Chek is the only colorless fire retardant of this type available to consumers.

Firebreak clear liquid fire retardant The Problem With Foams and Gels
Because firefighting foams and gels are only good for up to 8 hours under perfect conditions, a homeowner trying to protect his property will wait until the last possible moment to apply the product before evacuating. This delay can endanger the life of the homeowner as well as the firefighters who may now have to save not only the property but the homeowner too. Many local fire departments are not in favor of this strategy and discourage the use of foam and gel fire retardant for that reason.
